Caroline OchoaCaroline Ochoa is an Australian-born Salvadorean whose family arrived as refugees in 1989 during the Civil War. Her father served with the Red Cross during the war, and together with Caroline’s mother, grandmother and aunt, resettled in Australia seeking safety and a new beginning. Raised in Rockhampton, away from a large diaspora community, she grew up grounded in food, memory and tradition as her family kept cultural connection alive. Caroline now shares Salvadorean cooking and heritage online on social media.
